Summer Vacation Comes to an End.

Sadly had to say good bye to San Diego on Monday. It was so wonderful being home and seeing everyone! I missed you all very much! Not to mention getting to eat fatty American food, hearing and speaking English all the time, snuggling with my doggies, beach, amazing weather: it was a fantastic holiday.

Here are a few more pictures from being home for holiday if you'd like to see. To view all of them click here.

SO exhausted after the long trip but am trying to stay awake today to get used to the time change asap...not sure if its going to happen...

Had a BBQ with these crazy characters in Normal Heights...
these fine gentleman burnt BBQed for us

And these crazy ladies provided the entertainment...

Spent as much time as possible at the beautiful San Diego beaches I missed so much!!!

And got to hit up 4 museums on the free days at Balboa Park! My favorite place.

Got engaged at Heather and Nicks engagement fiesta (SO FUN)

Momma cooked us some good ol fashioned rice and beans and Spanish hamburgers for my last night in town. YEAH, they were AMAZING.

But most of the trip was spent snuggling or working in bed with these guys. My little snuggle muffins.

Officially Home!

I've been here in socal for about 2 weeks and have been having a blast!

Wedding, reunions with old friends, birthdays, was on TV, family time, solo beach day, and a Padres game! Plus tomorrow: VEGAS.

Snippets of the fun...

After my beach day I indulged in the socal favorite fast food, In n Out. BE jealous.

Annie and I took the train down to the Padre's game. Got glorious socal burritos on the way...

We had great fancy seats right on the 3rd baseline and had SO MUCH FUN!

Signs of a good night: Carrying your popcorn around the city and finishing it on the tram home.

I haven't been taking enough pictures, I am home here so taking pictures like a tourist feels weird, but I will try to take more soon!

Bought my ticket back to B-town for August 22nd. Until then, I'm enjoying the perfect weather everyday, friends, the beach, and snuggling with my doggies.

Missing you all in B-town, hope your enjoying your summers in our little Euro city!

Love from San Diego!

Bye Bratislava BBQ!

My friends and I gathered for an overdue BBQ at Yazzy's house yesterday! It was the perfect way to kick off summer, send me off, and spend time together. I was so happy the entire afternoon and evening- I am pretty sure at several points I was literally dancing around the flat. And I wasn't the only one! Seriously, best BBQ ever.

Yazzy quickly fired up his new BBQ for us to grill some delicious chicken...

mmmmm GRILLED chicken...

I like this one best. Pretty much describes the entire day.

Once again, I am so so small...

Not a bad view, eh? Besides that it was SO HOT.

"Oh, we're so cool we can stand to sit in the sun the entire time and you had to move to the shade" Whatever dudes.

"I'm a nerd!"

"I like the shade!"

More vodka...more hookah...

Then more loves came!

And we (well, I) had a little cry on the balcony because the separation is looming...

More hookah and drooping eyes...

Chats...

And then the night ended at 3a with some here...and some in the bathroom doing the same thing.

The signs of a good night.

Now its time to pack and get ready to bring the party to socal! READY?

Miss you Bratislava besties already.

Update...

In case you hadn't heard, since my last update was forever ago, I DID decide to sign on for another year teaching 5th grade here! We had a lot of news come all at once because in December the school will also be MOVING to an entirely new campus in another part of the city (closer to home for me, thank goodness). The school got new owners and merged with another small school with AMAZING facilities. PLUS we're getting all brand new curriculum for the classrooms that is digitally based because we will all have lap tops, smart boards, student lap tops, etc. It's going to be fantastic!

So since the job market back home hasn't changed at all, I still need experience, the school here is getting more resources and curriculum, and -oh yeah, I love it here- so I am staying! Yahoo!

BUT I will be home for the summer July 12 into the arms of my desperately awaiting parents, doggie, beach, and friends.

I am going to miss my life here, it will be weird since this feels like home now and my life is SO 100% different then it is in Cali...but having time to refresh and rejuvenate will be nice too. Although I might be bored out of my mind without a proper city right outside my door...so we'll see how long I last.

Here are some pictures of the new school site we will be moving to. My classroom isn't finished yet, they are adding two new buildings, so far only the primary building is done. But they will look similar I'm sure.

PS: All the buildings are old hospitals they're completely redoing to make into this amazing school, cool right!

Bratislava is Better with Friends!

My lovely old friend Jen who I went to school with and loved to death back in San Diego, came for part of the week and weekend and we had such a lovely time! She is from Germany, but is getting her masters degree in London so she just swung down for a fun few days together. I had to work so she gallivanted around town on the week days without me, and then in the evenings we went to get drinks, dinners, and to a friends party. Here are her beautiful pictures from around my tiny city, fun to see things through her cameras tourist perspective since everything has just become "normal" to me now, thought you'd like to see too!

The first night I took her for a walk around the city and we ate a shwarma in the square that looks like a movie set.

While at work she took herself for walks...this is just down my street...

That night she captured the "normal" part of my life, folding laundry...

Then we went out for a drink at a REALLY old church turned into a theatre, then turned into a pub...

The presidential palace on the other side of my street...

Statues around the city...

Saturday before she went home we went to the mall/riverside to eat and shop a bit. It's probably my FAVORITE place in the summer, for obvious reasons!

Thanks for visiting Jen, had a great time with you! Until next time lady!
