Planning Adventures...

I have found sushi and Mexican restaurants in Bratislava AND apparently they have English speaking movie theatres and plays too.

My friend Christina who is there also just asked me if I like to bike ride, because we can bike across the Danube river to Vienna when it gets warmer...apparently there is a trail and lots of people do it.
UM, YES PLEASE.

Oh...and she just got back from weekends in Prague and Budapest...and will be going to Paris at the end of January...Spain in March...maybe Italy after that. Apparently all the teachers at the school just travel around together for funsies!

SO BASICALLY I guess what Im saying is...my life just got 500x more awesome.

New places to go:
Croatia
Greece
Prague
Budapest
South of France
Copenhagen
Stockholm
St. Petersburg
Munich
Ireland
Portugal
Turkey
Cinque Terre (a part of Italy)

The only places I would like to venture back to would be Vienna, Gimmelwald Switzerland, and London.

Since its FREEZING in Europe until mid March, I guess I will save my adventures until the Spring.

Cant wait.

PS: If your scratching your head as I refer to Croatia...it IS the new Greece. Except cheaper and still undiscovered so its supposed to be just lovely.

Whose coming with me?

Preparing for the COLD.

I am busily trying to get my wardrobe ready for the winter cold I am so NOT prepared for in Slovakia. The temperatures don't get as bad as say...Wisconsin or Minnesota area here in the states...but its still around the mid 20's throughout January and February. Luckily, its BEAUTIFUL. There is NOTHING like Europe covered in snow, I got to experience it in Paris and Spain and it was truly magical...but I couldn't feel my fingers or toes all day due to lack of proper preparation.

So I have dug up my cute winter down coat, cashmere scarf, and Russian hat from the back of the closet I have only used when traveling outside of San Diego...bought some warm winter water proof boots...stocked up on warm leggings I can layer and super warm tights...and even bought some sweaters and pants! Now just need some snazzy fingerless gloves and we're ready.

And by "ready" I obviously mean...not at all.

Here are some more of my friends pictures from pretty snowy Slovakia...

The first day of snow from a few weeks ago at my future school during recess. SO FUN!

Pretty snow covered trees around the school.

Christmas tree in the middle of Bratislava. Amazing!

Slovakia: It's Happening!

Sooooo it appears that this old travel blog will now be put to good use as I am embarking on a GRAND adventure to Slovakia!

Slovakia?

Yes, Slovakia.

I have been offered a teaching job at a very prestigious school in the capital city there, Bratislava. A friend I was in the teaching program with is currently there teaching at the school her aunt helps to run. She has connected me and I will be teaching Kindergarten in English. The school looks amazing, and she is having a blast, so I feel very lucky to be able to just GO. No husband and kids to hold me back...even most of my friends have already moved away...It's just me.

And this girl is ready to get back out there.

I am trading this:

For this?

This is bound to be interesting.

Slovakia: Future Living Situation.

Here are some of the pictures my friend has posted from Bratislava. What do we think?

This is her 4th grade classroom, so I am assuming my Kinder would be similar.
So cute right!

This is going to be my room! From what I can tell it needs a SERIOUS makeover.
Thank goodness there is an Ikea.
The other side of my room.

and kitchen/laundry room \/

The castle you can walk to from the school!

Our apartment is 3 bedroom and I think has 2 nice bathrooms...or at least 2.5. We are across the street from pubs, a little store, gym, etc. Not quite in the middle of the main part of the city, but very close by bus. Either way, who cares. I am LIVING and WORKING in Europe! Woot!
