Sweden: Day 5 & 6

Today I slept in real good, then took myself to the Sketch Museum here in Lund. I was just expecting a little museum of random sketches, but it was AMAZING! It was rather large and covered from floor all the way on the ceiling of beautiful modern art. I walked in and was in art lovers heaven! COVERED with art!!! So fun! I even got to see huge Matisse and Diego Rivera amongst other lovely modern art work which I totally fell in love with.

After the Sketch Museum (which I got into for free with Cassies student ID BTW), I was going to walk to the city center to try and find some food but walked right past the big Kulturan Museum which everyone had said I should go to. I wasn't planning on going because the website said it was all outside and my face was already frozen at this point, but I realized the likeliness of me coming back to Lund to see Cassie was pretty small, so why not pay the student price again (thanks Cassies ID) and check it out? OMG IT WAS AWESOME!!! It wasn't really outside, as much as the buildings were all separated so you had to go outside to get to each...but it was like a little Swedish village!! The main building had 3 floors of all these old artifacts found in Lund, Holocaust items, and an entire random exhibit on China which was filled with artifacts too. It all looked like a brand new museum and everything was SO COOL. The history nerd in me exploded. Then you go outside and follow your numbered map and I went to another old farm house that had ENTIRE Swedish farm houses from the 1800's in them. You just walked around in them like it was nbd. Basically they had taken a bunch of old Swedish homes, farms, and businesses and placed them in this little village. The interiors were all intact and pretty much everything had English subtitles. They had a wealthy professors house from back in the day, an Archbishops house, ruins of a church, a farm house, blacksmith, farmers house, and even old clothes the Swedish people would wear a la one of the American Girls from childhood Kirsten.

I was in nerd teacher HEAVEN.

Sad to be leaving so soon...

Sweden Day 3 & 4

Enjoying my time with my Cassie snuggling and laughing all over Sweden! Yesterday we had lunch together with her work friends and then I took myself to a super cute coffee shop where you make your own tea (they have different loose leaf jars and holders out!) and then sit with the provided blankets watching the snow fall outside. It was pretty damn picturesque if I do say so myself! I sat and worked there for a few hours and then ventured back home while popping into different shops along the way due to face numbness from the cold.

Today I just stayed home because the high today was a mere 23 (yeah, I know. cold) but once Cassie was home we went shopping with her boyfriend and then got pizza for dinner. Now we're back home snuggling and catching up with Glee.

Best vacation EVER!!!

From Sweden with love.

Sweden: Day 2

Today I just slept in and then Cassie met me for a DELICIOUS lunch of vegetarian soy meat hot dogs, mashed potatoes, a salad bar, and fresh bread. Swedish food is schooling Slovak food like whoa. Then she had to go back to work so I took myself for an adventure to exchange my money, shop till I drop, and then all the way back home. Its cold and after all that walking I am ready for a nap before we go to Malmo tonight for a vegetarian dinner. I am LOVING being around all these vegetarians with food options besides pasta with stupid cream sauce.

Lund is so precious. It kind of reminds me of Madison, Wisconsin in that all thats really here is the university, so its all college folk (My people!) in this old city where you can walk everywhere, cafes, pubs, and good shopping abound, and too many cool kids to count. Kind of loving it here in Sweden!

Some pretty images of the lovely old architecture from today, most of them are of her school...

And some awesome shopping here too. Swedes KNOW cool design that make my heart soar!

Hey Sweden!

Today has been lovely so far. A semi lazy Sunday in Sweden with my sissy Cassie. We slept in and watched Glee on her computer in bed, then walked around the city to see a church built in 1100 (crazy old), stopped and had a long yummy lunch in a cute cafe where they gave you hot water and then you got to make your own loose leaf tea at a little table, got some sweets, and are now snuggled back at home watching bad TV and loving life!!!

Best vacation EVER.
Walking through the park...

So hot right now. Then theres the mittens.

Cute Swedish streets.

I LOVED this little house.

With its blue door.

Super cool bug clock inside the church

This Week In Kindergarten...

Our themes this week were the letter P and "In the Air" So much fun!

haha I totally just made these up. I pre cut things for them to stick on the toilet paper roll to make "planes".

P is for "Prince" "Princess" and "puppet". So after they colored and cut these, I helped them to tape them on sticks to make puppets! This was all my own invention too...

P is for Pig! After we read the 3 Little Pigs and talked to our Pig Puppet friend, we made these from a template I just drew up really quick.

If you didn't see my tweet. Paper Mache Ballooon Day=Paper Mache Miss Esther's sweater and arms day.

Then we painted the paper mache and attached little baskets to them to make hot air balloons. The kids were so lazy doing the paper mache, they would only do half and then want to be done and I had to do the rest. So annoying.

I just realized I came up with everything we did this week all by myself! Wow!

Another Great Week From Kindergarten!
